A Six-Part Virtual Series Exploring the Motivations and Global Influence of World Powers

The global rebalance of power continues. The ambitions, alliances, and actions of world powers have accelerated shifts in the international order that was framed in the waning days of the Second World War. What interests countries on the world stage today, what outcomes do they seek, and what role do cooperation and competition play? The International Relations Council’s Global Motivations series will paint a portrait of six world powers, their internal and external drivers, their evolving role in the community of nations, and what this means for the rest of the world.

Countries of focus in the six sessions include China, Russia, the European Union, the United Kingdom, India, and Japan. An in-person companion program focusing on the United States’ role in the world will be held in conjunction with American Public Square on Tuesday, September 13, at the Truman Library.
